• The Struggle to Stabilize the Olde English Bulldogge Breed

  •

The diversity of Jack and Audrey's litter of Olde English Bulldogges is deliciously delightful.  Like Baskin Robbins 31 flavors of ice cream, it's tough to decide which flavor you want!  With both bulldogges and ice cream, having many flavor choices doesn't matter if the standard of foundation is not good.  Delicious plain ole basic vanilla, in a good quality ice cream, is always better than 31 fancy flavors of bad ice cream.

insightout's breeding program focus is based on solid health and even temperament for our Olde English Bulldogges.  We do not breed for fancy exotic colors or inflated muscle mass.  Through our experience we've found a happy, healthy bulldogge with an even temperament is a beautiful bulldogge.

The extreme diversity in the Olde English Bulldogge breed allows the bulldogges to be individuals and not all the same as with some cookie cutter breeds.  But, this diversity also dangerously grants leeway in consistent breed standard.  This leeway in standard for OEBs proves to provide a field day for unethical breeders.    To help stabilize the OEB breed it is important to have mutual trust and respect between the puppy home and the breeder.  If a breeder does not want to share the breeding environment of their puppies by allowing you to visit, then you should quickly look elsewhere for a puppy.  Equally so, if a consumer does not want to share their personal information and personal environment where the puppy will live, the breeder should by-pass the cash and wait for a better home for their puppy.

A breeder screening potential homes by requiring personal information and photographs may feel uncomfortable and somewhat offensive, but it essential in the effort to stabilize this breed.  Simply having the money to purchase an Olde English Bulldogge puppy does not  ensure a safe, happy home or give a consumer the right of entitlement to have a puppy.  It comes as a great surprise to those who are denied an insightout puppy that it isn't all about money - it is about the well being of the puppy and in the best interest of this breed.

Both breeder and consumer must ethically be committed and work together for the successful stabilization of  the magnificent Olde English Bulldogge.

This blog is dedicated to all of insightout's committed puppy families who eagerly provided screening information and understood it was necessary for the betterment of the breed.  Thank you.
